PETERLOO HERITAGE LOTTERY FUNDED PROJECT

Photos from Peterloo 200 commemoration

"Peterloo" was the name given to the massacre of 18 Lancashire cotton workers  protesting over a lack of representation in parliament at St Peter's Field on Aug 16 1819 by the  Manchester & Salford Yeomanry and British Army.
So called as the event took place only 4 years after the British victory against Napolean at Waterloo. Cacophany Arkestra worked with Action Factory Community group and Jen Reid- Lancashire ballad singer - to create a processional band that took part in the 200 year anniversary commemoration of the event.
