Paintings and banners created as part of the Cacophany Arkestra project.
The images below are examples to explain the creative processes used to deliver Cacophany Arkestra tours.
The Arkestra performs regionally at many events. And has been funded 8 times by Arts council England.
I start a project with a title and develop images that reflect what I want to communicate. One aspect of the Carnival tradition has always had a socio/political function, where individuals within communities can communicate how they feel about how life. Carnival is a way to bring art and ideas and express them on the street. Recent themes address issues - Climate change, neo-liberalism, the rise of populism, the effects of austerity.
These are issues that affect all of us.
Sometimes the images might not seem to relate to a particular theme, however they are part of a creative process and support the works that are chosen to be further developed.
